How to dress for transitional weather: five items for your autumn looks
You leave the house in the morning and are grateful to be wearing a jacket. By midday, you are looking for a lighter combination. And when evening falls, it gets chilly again. Dressing for the transition between seasons has a lot to do with finding garments that can accompany you throughout the day.
At Woman, we like to resolve these changes with layers that are easy to add and remove, comfortable fabrics, and pieces that offer different combination possibilities. A vest over a shirt, a patterned blouse with your favorite jeans, or a dress with ankle boots can help you welcome autumn.
These are our five proposals for transitional dressing.
A vest for cool mornings
The vest is a good option when you need an extra layer but don't quite need a coat yet. You can wear it over a shirt, a long-sleeved t-shirt, or a thin sweater, adapting it to the temperature of each day.
The Barbour Women's Nunwell Reversible Vest is lightly padded and offers two finishes: solid black on one side and the characteristic Shadow Classic tartan on the other.
That ability to flip it over allows you to change the look of the outfit. We like the black side over a patterned blouse, letting the print be the protagonist. To accompany a plain shirt and jeans, the tartan adds that classic Barbour touch.
Our proposal: white shirt, jeans, and Nunwell vest with loafers for a comfortable daily look.
A lightweight jacket for rainy days
A lightweight jacket is especially useful when the weather changes and you need to head out prepared without resorting to heavy outerwear yet.
The Barbour Delilah Showerproof Jacket is rain-resistant and features a short design in stone beige. The button closure, flap pockets, and tartan details on the inside and cuffs give it a polished finish.
Its neutral tone allows it to be paired with denim, earth tones, or prints. You can wear it open over a blouse and close it when it gets chilly.
Our proposal: jeans, fine knitwear, and Delilah jacket for those days when you're grateful to have an extra layer on hand.
A boho dress you can wear with boots
Dresses also have their place in the autumn wardrobe. Long sleeves and a change of footwear allow you to create transitional outfits without giving up the comfort of a single garment.
The Jaase Bianca Sabrina dress combines a long, fluid design with a print in turquoise, brown, mustard, and cream. It features a V-neck, long sleeves, and a fabric belt to adjust the waist.
To wear it during these months, try pairing it with ankle boots in camel or brown tones. When you need more warmth, add a plain knitted cardigan that matches the colors of the print.
Our proposal: Bianca Sabrina dress, ankle boots, and a cream cardigan for lunch, a walk, or an afternoon with friends.
Jeans as a starting point
There are days when choosing an outfit is easier if you start with a pair of jeans. From there, you can add a shirt, a blouse, or a knit piece depending on your plans.
The Liu Jo high-waisted flared jeans provide a silhouette that combines especially well with fluid blouses. Try tucking in the front of the blouse slightly to leave the waist visible.
Footwear also changes the result: sneakers add a casual air, while ankle boots allow you to create a more polished outfit.
Our proposal: Liu Jo jeans, patterned blouse, and ankle boots for a look you can take from work to dinner.
A patterned blouse to add personality to the outfit
A colorful blouse can refresh the simplest combination in your wardrobe. With jeans and subtle accessories, you have an outfit where the print takes center stage.
The Jaase Bianca Print blouse mixes petrol green, turquoise, terracotta, and beige in a geometric print. Its lightweight fabric, relaxed cut, and wide sleeves provide movement, while the neck tie and contrasting cuffs add detail.
We like it with denim and also with plain pants in earth tones. To add a layer, choose a neutral jacket that allows the print to be appreciated.
Our proposal: Bianca Print blouse, flared jeans, and a beige jacket to combine the bohemian air of Jaase with a simple-lined outer garment.
The key to transitional dressing: layering
To get your outfits right during these weeks, think of an ensemble that works both with and without the outer garment. Start with a blouse, a shirt, or a dress and add the layer you need depending on the temperature.
Playing with plain and patterned garments will also help you make the most of different combinations: a neutral jacket can accompany both your everyday jeans and a more colorful dress.
At Woman, we select garments that you can wear your own way and combine with what is already in your wardrobe. Discover these proposals in our online store or visit us in Murcia and we will help you find your next autumn look.
