Behind the counter | Learn a little more about Woman
Woman Boutique participated in the Onda Regional radio program where listeners were able to learn a little more about its history.
Woman is one of the big names in fashion in Murcia , with more than 55 years of history in the emblematic Calle Correos , in the heart of the city.
Its founder, Carmen Cano , recalled how in 1970 her father opened the shop for his daughters and how it was her sister Marisa who chose the name, groundbreaking for the time, when El Corte Inglés didn't yet exist in Murcia. It was the first boutique in the city, and its innovative spirit marked the beginning of a new way of understanding fashion.
Alongside her, her daughter Ángela Carrillo shared what it means to grow up surrounded by fabrics, customers, and shop windows. For her, Woman Boutique is her home, a place where she has learned not only the trade but also who her mother is to so many people: " Sometimes they don't come to buy anything, they just come to say hello ."
Today, Ángela leads the digital side— website and social media —which has allowed the boutique to reach all of Spain and parts of Europe without losing its personal touch. And although there are some frictions inherent in working together, they are clear about one thing: “ We are not partners, nor boss and employee, we are mother and daughter .”
